Anthony Duckworth-Smith

Urban Design Teacher, Practitioner and Researcher
Australian Urban Design Research Centre

Anthony is an urban design teacher, practitioner and researcher at the Australian Urban Design Research Centre (AUDRC) at the University of Western Australia. He has also practiced in the fields of Transport Planning, Civil Engineering and Architecture. He has developed his research to tackle the broader challenges of the urban intensification of sprawling cities with a focus on the quality of places. His 2016 publication Sprawl and the City (UWAP) provided an accessible and thought-provoking review of Perth’s infill planning intentions. Anthony is interested in applied research and participatory design models which can inform public discussion and policy, and is guided by the question: if we want to provide more options for dwelling within our cities how can we do this in an effective, equitable and durable manner?
