Painting the Town (Again): Planners Art Exhibition 2018
The last Congress in Perth was punctuated by a unique event, crossing over between culture and planning – an art exhibition by WA Planners suggesting that the separation between the two was perhaps not large at all. The show attracted significant attention and accolades, providing an unfamiliar perspective of the capabilities of the Planning profession.
The West Australian newspaper reported at the time that “(this exhibition) … dispel(s) myths about planners, who have a long history of creativity dating back to the British founder of town planning Sir Patrick Abercrombie.” (Stephen Bevis, the West Australian, April 30, 2007)
With the National Congress returning to Perth again, WA Planners have rallied again to put on a second show: “Painting the Town – 2”. To be held at Brookfield Plaza throughout early May, the exhibition will feature 22 artists from the Planning profession. Among them will be the founder of the Black Swan Portrait Prize, a past WA Planner of the Year, Managing Directors of major Planning practices or Authorities, and a diverse array of over-achievers.
Date: Tuesday 1st – Friday 18th May
Venue: Brookfield Place, Tower 1 Lobby at 125 St Georges Terrace
Cost: FREE – Drop in when at #PIACongress18 and check it out!
